Recording Studio: Music ProductionsEven before working for Manion Music, David had been busy as a part-time
producer of professional recordings, mostly Christian music, some of which were aired
nationally and internationally. All of the following albums involve singers, and most of
the music is original. David's production expertise adds the instrumentation to the pieces
to enhance the sound. Most of these instrumental enhancements are made with the MIDI
synthesizers, since MIDI data is simple to enter and easy to manipulate (David enters this
data with an electric piano keyboard). David prides himself on his realistic rendering of
instruments with his rich pallet of MIDI synthesizers.
Audio samples of these albums as
well as other recording projects (including instrumental recordings) are available on the Sound Clips page. |

- Jimmy Lumpkin: "The Honey Guide", 1998.
Commissioned by Jimmy's
father, this album is an Alternative Rock album, featuring original Christian contemporary
music by tenor Jimmy Lumpkin. Lumpkin has attended Bible college and is pursuing a career
as a pastor.
- Debbie Paige: "Think On These Things", 1998.
This album is a contemporary Gospel album, featuring original music
by alto Deborah Paige, collaborative compositions by Paige and Duckworth, and covers. The
Savannah Cultural Affairs committee awarded Ms. Paige a substantial grant to partially
cover the costs for the production and duplication of this album.
- Vision: "Jesus Is the Rock", 1997.
This album consists of youth music,
and was commissioned by Communité Emanuel, the largest growing Christian organization in
France. It has been aired internationally in several European countries, and distributed
nationally in France. The lead singer, Mireille Hamm, who lived in France, wrote the
original songs on the CD.
Gail Thurmond: "Here I Go
Again", 2004.
Adhering to
the format of her popular "Savannah Moon" album, Gail
Thurmond sprinkled her own original compositions in with other jazz and blues standards.
Several songs featuring foreign languages (including French lyrics in "Autumn
Leaves" and Spanish in "What a Difference a Day Makes" and "Para
Ti"), in addition to the Japanese-themed "Tokyo Blues", give this album a
unique international flavor. To listen to samples and to order this CD, click here.
- Gail Thurmond: "Life Songs", 1998.
This album consists of songs which
address the subject of widowhood. It was commissioned by Gail Thurmond's mother-in-law,
herself a widow most of her life. Most of the lyrics of this album were composed by the
elder Mrs. Thurmond or by her late husband. All of the music was composed by singer Gail
Thurmond. To order this CD, click here.
Gail Thurmond: "Savannah
Moon", 1995.
This
debut album consists of jazz, blues, and ballads, and reflects the romantic mood created
by Gail Thurmond as she plays in the lower floor of the Pink House, six nights a week.
David commissioned this album, and it has sold more copies to date than any other of
David's productions (over 5000 copies). Most are covers, but three are Thurmond originals,
including the title track. To listen to samples and to order this CD, click here.
- David Jacobs: "Real Love", 1995.
This album is Christian contemporary music written and sung by
baritone David Jacobs. It was initially commissioned by Mayor Floyd Adams. Jacobs had
begun paying for the recording project himself, and Adams heard one of his concerts, and
was inspired by the music to fund the project. However, when the mayoral election required
a recount of votes, the unforeseen financial obligations that ensued forced Adams to
withdraw his pledge. Jacobs was able to receive funding through other means.
- Cecilia: "Liberating Boundaries", 1995.
David's first production, this
album was a collaborative effort with longtime college friend, Cecilia Overby (now Cecilia
Tomko). The music is contemporary acoustic. The lyrics and melodies are Cecilia's
compositions, and the lyrics give encouragement to young teens confronted with the
temptation
to engage in
premarital sex. After producing this album, David and Cecilia went on tours to church
youth groups, giving concerts with testimonies to teen audiences.
